Compassionate Release
In rare circumstances, the Home Secretary has the power to release life sentence prisoners on compassionate grounds. The law is extended by the implementation of policy and at Atkins Law, we have been instrumental in a large number of compassionate releases of life prisoners.
We have extended our work in this area and hold a large amount of expertise in, for example, representing the elderly and the sick.
Within this section, we would include those who are in need of psychiatric services available only within the National Health Service Mental Health sector. Again, it is important to identify the correct experts to assist the individual life sentence prisoner. This can ensure that such assessments and suggestions for referrals reach the correct departments.
The whole area of compassionate release and transfers to the mental health sector is highly complex and therefore, it is crucial that a firm such as Atkins Law is instructed as early as possible to assist.
